//Review// M.I.A. //Kala//

All her album covers are neatly very unpleasant, music wise as well. It's not easy listening, especially for the mellow ear but her political statements in this album is notable. Lyrics like "20 dollar ain't shit to you but that's how much they earn" in 20 Dollar where she talks about African minimum wage workers in Africa. The highlight of the album for me is Hussel (Feat. African Boy) the shameless use of auto tune and reverb step sounds cool, its certainly filled with noise, an M.I.A. signature sound but really, it sinks in. Recorded in India, Africa, Japan and Trinidad although originally intended to be recorded in the U.S. Maya was not allowed to "work" in the states due to her Visa dispute, after all, she's a Brit. If Kala was recorded in the U.S. the collaborator was supposed to be Timbaland instead he just made it as a guest appearance in  Come Around which is pretty 'up to the mark'. M.I.A. shouts for the third world, her story is pretty neat and is far more political that Lady Gaga's bullying
